Project Components
Arduino Nano Microcontroller
The brain of our project, processing inputs and controlling motorcontroller outputs.
Ryobi Brushed Drill
We took apart the drill and used the motor, gearbox, and chuck in our final design.
Cytron MD20A Motor Controller
Takes in commands from the microcontroller and controls the drill motor.
ESP32 Microcontroller
Handles wireless communication with app and controls the LED matrices.
8020 Aluminum Extrusion
Chose to use aluminum extrusions for main structure of project in order to ensure components within the encasing would be held in place.
LED Matrix
Connected to an app to control the settings of the LED display: UV index,
Battery Holder
Custom 3D printed battery holder in order to hold battery within structure.
Motor Mount
Custom 3D printed motor mount to stabilize motor.
Electronics Holder
Custom 3D printed electronics holder to organize and keep electrical components in place.
Cap
Custom 3D printed cap to hold power button, up/down buttons, and the attachment locking mechanism.
LED Matrix Window
Custom 3D printed with clear PLA to create a window for the LED matrices.
Bottom Panel
Laser cut wood to keep spike cocentric and stable while spinning.
